Translation.

This Deed written on this twenty fourth day of December in the Year of our Lord 1860. 24 December.Kaipara District. 1860 is a full and final sale conveyance and surrender by us the Chiefs and People of the Tribe Te Waiaruhe Te Rarawa Te Kawewahie whose names are hereunto subscribed And Witnesseth that on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by Te Kuri. signing this Deed under the shining sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Queens who may succeed Her and Her and Their Assigns for ever in consideration of the Sum of Six hundred and twenty two pounds (£39 . 10 . 0 has previously been received by us) Pounds to us paid by Mr. Rogan District Commissioner on behalf of the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our Land situated at Kaipara and named Te Kuri the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which Land is annexed thereto with its trees minerals waters rivers lakes streams and all appertaining to the said Land or beneath the surface of the said Land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereon To Hold to Queen Victoria Her Heirs arid Assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the name of John Rogan Commissioner is hereunto subscribed. These are the boundaries of the Land commencing Boundaries. [13,220 acres.] at Taingai at the Wairoa following the river to Awatehe Parakokowai Arapaua Kokorako Te Kauri Kopuatete Sail point Otiaho Kaitahura Te Kuri Waimamaku Te Ngawha Tomb Point from thence westerly by a line bearing 372° 50′ 43150 links to the sea thence page 218northerly along the sea coast to Waitetaniwha Te Wiroa thence towards the Wairoa 130° 0′ 3666 links 303° 0′ 6300 links 304° 10′ 2427 links to Taingai where the boundaries meet.
Otiaho Reserve. [680 acres.] One place has been reserved for us named Otiaho containing 680 acres the boundaries of which have been surveyed by Mr. Smith.
