Translation.

1860. 21 December.Kaipara District.This Deed written on this twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord 1860 is a full and final sale conveyance and surrender by us the Chiefs and People of the Tribe Te Waiaruhe Te Mangamate whose names are hereunto subscribed And Witnesseth that Waioneke. on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by signing this Deed under the shining sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Queens who may succeed Her and Her and Their Assigns for ever in consideration of the Sum of seven hundred pounds (£330 has been previously received by us) Pounds (£700) to us paid by John Rogan District Commissioner on behalf of the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our Land situated at Kaipara and named Waioneke the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which Land is annexed thereto with its trees minerals waters rivers lakes streams and all appertaining to the said Land or beneath the surface of the said Land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereon To Hold to Queen Victoria Her Heirs and Assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the name of John Rogan Commissioner is hereunto subscribed. Boundaries. [20,600 acres.] These are the boundaries of the Land commencing at Awataha and following along the survey line bearing 143° 10′ 21808 links. 100° 27′. 434 links to Otai thence 126°. 0′. 1990 links. 132°. 0′. 14650 links to the sea shore on the west coast following along the sea shore in a northerly direction to the Kaipara Heads and on to Waionui to the survey line which divides Waioneke and Wiritoa bearing 87° 30′ 6530 links 28° 0′. 11285 links to Waitetu thence 265° 30′ 11000 links 193° 40′. 2105 links 310° 45′. 4793 links 275° 30′. 593 links 227° 10′. 9790 links 295° 25′. 7177 links to Te Pua, and thence to Waioneke, Excluding Waiharakeke and Karangatai. Taumata and Awataha where the boundary line closes. Excepting two reserves which have been surveyed named Waiharekeke and Karangatai.

Receipt for £700 Paid previously 330 £1,030 Received this twenty first day of December in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty (1860) the Sum of Seven hundred pounds (£330 has been previously received by us), Pounds sterling (£1030) being the full consideration money expressed in the above-written Deed to be paid by John Rogan District Commissioner on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen to us.
