Translation.

1851. 21 October.This Deed made on the 21st day of October 1851 is an Agreement between us chiefs of Kaipara District. Ngatewhatua and the Queen of England Whereby we the owners of the piece of land described in this Deed consent to sell the same to Queen Victoria in consideration of the Waikoukou. sum of sixty pounds sterling, wherefore we give and deliver over to Victoria Queen of England and to her Successors for ever the said piece of land and all that belongs to it, Boundaries. bounded as follows. Commencing at a very large totara tree which stands very near the source of the Patumahoe river in the midst of an old cultivation called Patumahoe, it goes to the source of the Waraurua, thence it goes to the junction of this river with the Waipapa, thence following the Waipapa until it reaches the Waikoko (river) there the boundary line turns, goes to the top of the hill called Pukeharakeke, thence it goes to the Ararima (see the Plan on the other side) following this stream to its source, thence it goes to Kaihakihaki where a mark is dug in the ground this last is the boundary of the land sold to Blake, whence it follows the Eastern and Northern boundaries of land sold to White, until it reaches the Kumeu thence following that river to its junction with the Patumahoe then ascending the last named stream to the Totara in the old cultivation before spoken of. Waikoko is the name—the plan is drawn on the other side.
