Translation

Translation.

1857. 23 November.Be it known to all men that on the 23rd day of Nov. 1857, we sold our Land in Kaipara to Her Majesty's Government. The Land is called Okahu which we fully and finally Okahu No. II. sold for the sum of £500 ster which sum was given to us by Mr. Rogan. The Boundaries of this land are given in the Deed signed by us (on the receipt of the £500) although this land was fully and finally given up to the Queen and the sum (as above specified) was to be the full payment for this land, nevertheless since the survey of Manganui it has been ascertained that this Land contains more than was supposed when it was sold that is it contains 2,600 acres more.
Receipt for £100, additional payment. Now His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to give the sum of £100 in addition to the sum already given to us in payment for this additional land in full and final payment for the land called Okahu.

As witness our names and marks signed at Auckland on the 25th day of September in the year 1858.
