Translation.

1857. 24 March.Kaipara District.Know all men by these presents that on this twenty fourth (24) day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty seven (1857) We the under-signed aboriginal Native Chiefs and aboriginal Natives of New Zealand in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and fifty pounds once told (£350) to us paid by John Tatarariki. Rogan Esquire a District Commissioner on behalf of Queen Victoria (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) do and each of us doth hereby sell release and convey to Queen Victoria and Her Heirs the Kings or Queens who may succeed her, and her assigns all that piece of land named Tarariki situated at Te Wairoa. The boundary of Boundaries. [12,000 acres.] the land commences at the mouth of Te Kopuru and along the bank of Te Wairoa to the mouth of the Tarariki it runs thence in a westerly direction and ascends to Puketunoa, and on to the sea above Waihahihi thence in a northerly direction along the sea coast to Pari e tati and stretches on to the mouth of Te Kopuru where the boundaries meet, and all the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging and all the right title interest claim and demand whatsoever of us and each of us therein or thereto, to hold the said land and appurtenances unto the Queen and her assigns for ever. In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names.
