Translation

Translation.

1854. 3 March.Whangarei District.This Deed executed on the 3rd day of March 1854, being the consent of Paikea Arama Karaka, Wiremu Tipene, Macquarie Hawaiki, Pereneka,. Wetere Te Pou, Puriri, Matiu, Pairama, Tamati, Paratene Taupuhi, Matikikuha, Te Awaiti, Te Korone, Hemana, Manukau, Te Whe, Te Awa, Pehimana, Tatana, Te Uranga, Te Kiri, Parihoro, Himiona, Mancawhai. Waitoitoi, Hohaia, Kerepe, Te Awe, and all of their relations, being also the consent of the Queen of England. Now We whose names are written above, do hereby consent to make over the following land to the Queen Victoria in consideration of the sum of One thousand and sixty pounds therefore we hereby consent to give over to the Queen of England, the undermentioned land, and all appurtenances thereunto belonging for Boundaries. ever and ever. The following being the boundaries—commencing at the Hororoa, thence to Ngaroto, Nga rakau e wha, thence in a westerly direction to Waititi, thence along the river of Waititi, Papawi, ascending the hill at Rauawe Wakaraurangi, emerging at Kaparaunui, thence in the valley to the river Hakuru, then along the course of the Hakuru, thence to the top of Pukekohe, thence to Taumatatirotiro, thence ascending mari roai, thence emerging at Wakatarariki—thence along the coast to the Hororoa, before 10 per cents. allowed. mentioned. It is further agreed that ten per cent, of the proceeds of the sale of this block of Land by the Queen is to be expended for the benefit of the Natives.
