Translation.

This Deed executed at Maraekura on the fifth of October in the year of Our Lord One 1855. 5 October.Whangarei District. Thousand eight hundred and fifty five is the consent of the tribes of Ngaiporo of Ngaipo of Nga te Oenuku of the Maunga Ungaunga of Ngatihaua of the Parawhau to sell a portion of our Land to the Queen of England for the sum of Two Thousand eight hundred pounds £2800. The following are the Boundaries of the Lands we hereby Maungakaramea No. I. give up Commencing at Tauoma where the boundary of the Maunga Tapere purchase falls into the sea thence along the said boundary line of Maunga Tapere Block Wanauroa Boundaries. Pukeatua Otnhi where it turns to the south and goes down the course of the stream Tore Ngaua to its junction with the stream Wai o Tama thence down the course of that river to its junction with the Kaitarau thence up the course of the Kaitarau to its junction with the Waiohurua thence up the course of the Waiohurua to its source thence along the base of the mountain range of Tangihua of Pukemapau of Hurua into the stream of Tauraroa thence up the course of the stream of Tauraroa to Papakarangia thence across the spur of the Mahakitai range to the source of the river of Hira aute at Raurairi thence along the shores of the Hira aute to Tauoma the aforesaid point of commencement. We do also consent to give in the cultivations on the banks of the Otaika river which were exempted in the former sale and which have been surveyed.
We have this day received at the hands of John Grant Johnson Esquire the sum of Receipt for £2,000. Two Thousand Pounds £2000 of the above recited money. Therefore we hereby consent to give up entirely the said Land to the Queen Victoria of England and to her heirs for ever with all its hills forests timber rocks cliffs waters lakes rivers grass and everything appertaining to the said Land in consideration of the above mentioned Two thousand eight hundred pounds. In witness whereof we hereby sign our names to this paper on this 5th day of October in the year 1855.
