Translation

Translation.

This Deed written on this tenth 10th day of November in the Year of our Lord 1873 1873 10 November.Bay of Island District. is a full and final sale conveyance and surrender by me Tango Hikuwai whose name is hereunto subscribed And Witnesseth that on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by signing this Deed under the shining sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Te Papa. Queens who may succeed Her and Her and their Assigns for ever in consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds, ten shillings (£60 - 10 - 0) to us paid by Henry Tacy Kemp on behalf of the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our Lrand situated at Te Keri Keri and named Te Papa the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which Land is annexed thereto with its trees, minerals, waters, rivers, lakes, streams, and all appertaining to the said Land or beneath the surface of the said Land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereon To hold to Queen Victoria Her Heirs and Assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the name of H. T. Kemp Civil Commissioner is hereunto subscribed. These are the boundaries of the Land commencing at the Boundary line of the Government Boundaries. [127 acres.] Block known as Pukututu, it then follows the Okura Creek until it empties itself into the Keri Keri River—it follows that River until it joins the Mangatawai proper—from thence until it meets at the commencing point at the Pukututu Boundary. The Small page 84Island at the entrance of the River (Te Korau) is included in this purchase by the Island of "Korau" included. Government. But the Plan will accurately shew the Boundaries.

And I hereby authorize Mr. Kemp on behalf of the. Govt. to receive the Crown Grant for the same—the Lien upon which (£12) has been paid by me this day to the Surveyor.

Receipt for £60 . 10. Received this tenth 10th day of November in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy three (1873) the Sum of Sixty Pounds ten shillings sterling (£60 - 10 - 0) being money consideration money expressed in the above-Written Deed to be paid by H. T. Kemp on behalf of Her. Majesty the Queen to us.
