1871. 16 December.Bay of Plenty District.This Deed made the sixteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and seventy one Between Marara Rangihoro and Te Mapu aboriginal natives of New Zealand of the one part and Her Majesty Victoria Queen of Great Britain and Ireland Kopaeara No. 2, Maketu. and her successors of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the rent hereby reserved and the covenants and powers hereinafter contained and herein implied by For Telegraph Station. virtue of the conveyancing Ordinance Number Ten of Session Two they the said Marara Rangihoro and Te Mapu do and each of them doth hereby demise and lease unto Her Majesty Victoria the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland aforesaid and her successors all that parcel of land situate at Maketu in the Bay of Plenty containing by admeasurement two roods more or less being portion of a piece of land called or known by the name of Kopaeara No. 2 and numbered 2159 Bounded towards the North by a line one Boundaries. [0a. 2r. 0p.] hundred and ninety six links on the east by a line two hundred and eighty five links on the south by a line one hundred and ninety six links and on the West by a line two hundred and thirty eight links as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan drawn hereon, with all the rights And appurtenances thereto belonging to hold the Lease for 21 years at £10 per annum. same unto Her Majesty aforesaid and Her successors for the term of Twenty one years from the first day or October One thousand eight hundred and seventy one at the yearly rent of Ten pounds payable yearly And the said Marara Rangihoro and Te Mapu do and each of them doth for their heirs executors and administrators covenant and agree with Her Majesty aforesaid and her successors that it shall and may be lawful for Her Majesty aforesaid and her successors at the expiration of the said term hereby granted to remove all buildings erected on the said demised premises or to be hereafter erected.
