Translation.

1874. 20 November.Bay of Plenty District.This Deed written on this Twentieth day of November in the year of Our Lord 1874 is a full and final sale conveyance and surrender by us the chiefs and people of the tribe Ngatitu of Rotorua District New Zealand whose names are hereunto subscribed and Parish Matata, Allotment 20. Witnesseth that on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by signing this Deed under the shining sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Queens who may succeed Her and Her and their assigns for ever in consideration of the sum of One hundred and twenty five pounds (£125 . 0. 0) to us paid by Charles Boundaries. [738 acres.] Oliver Bond Davis and Receipt for £125. Henry Walker Mitchell on behalf of the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our land situated at Matata, Awa a te Atua and named allotment Twenty Parish of Matata the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which land is annexed thereto with its trees minerals waters rivers lakes streams and all appertaining to the said land or beneath the surface of the said land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereto. To hold to Queen Victoria Her heirs and assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the names of Charles Oliver Bond Davis and Henry Walker Mitchell are hereunto subscribed. These are the boundaries of the land, towards the North West by allotment Twenty one, one hundred and thirty one chains and twenty one links thence crossing a road one hundred and seventy five links, again by allotment Twenty one aforesaid, Two thousand seven hundred and thirty four links, towards the East by the Tarawera River, towards the South East by allotment Twenty seven three thousand two hundred links, thence crossing a road one hundred and ninety four links, again by allotment Twenty seven aforesaid, nine thousand five hundred links and towards the West by allotments Twenty six, Twenty five, Twenty four and Twenty one aforesaid five thousand nine hundred and thirty five links intersected from North East to South West by a road one hundred links wide, containing seven hundred and thirty eight acres more or less in the whole, block.
