Memorandum of Agreement made this Seventeenth day of December One thousand Enclosure 14. Eight hundred and Sixty Eight between Hamiora Tu Native Chief of Tauranga in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand of the one part and Messrs. Whitaker and Russell Solicitors of the City of Auckland of the other part Whereby the said Hamiora Tu agrees to sell to the said Messrs. Whitaker and Russell all that piece or parcel of land situated on the Island of Matakana in the District of Tauranga in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand and known by the name of Pukenui and Apou. [300 aores.] Pukenui and Apou and containing three hundred acres more or less.

And the said Messrs. Whitaker and Russell agree to purchase the said land and to pay to the said Hamiora Tu at the rate of three shillings p. acre in the manner following, the sum of Twelve pounds to be paid on signing this agreement and the balance on the execution of a Conveyance for the said land.

And the said Haniiora Tu further agrees to have the said land surveyed without loss of time at his cost.

I hereby certify that I have read oyer the above agreement to Hamiora Tu and that ho fully understood its contents.

It is understood that the price of three shillings p. acre is to be charged for the good land out of these blocks the inferior land is to be charged at a less price in proportion to the quality.
