Enclosure 11.Memorandum of agreement made this Fourth day of December One Thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Eight between Timi Tirua and Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau Native Chiefs of the District of Tauranga, in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand of the one part and Messrs. Whitaker and Russell Solicitors of the City of Auckland of the other part, Whereby the said Timi Tirua and Taraiti Tukunui te page 653Rangihau agree to sell to Whitaker and Russell all that piece of land situated on the Island of Matakana in the District of Tauranga, in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand and known by the name of Hamakariri Te Pepepe and Marae Haua containing by admeasurement 84 acres, and the said Messrs. Whitaker and Hamakariri Te Pepete and Marae Haua. [84 acres.] Russell agree to purchase the said land and to pay to the said Timi Tirua and Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau at the rate of Four shillings per acre in manner following, the sum of Twelve pounds to be paid on signing this Agreement and a further sum of Four pounds Sixteen £4 . 16 . 0 Shillings on the execution of a conveyance and the said Timi Tirua and Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau agree to hand over the said piece of land and all thereon to the said Whitaker and Russell for the above mentioned sums.
