Enclosure 5.Memorandum of Agreement made this Seventh day of November One
Thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Eight between Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau and
Enoka of the District of Tauranga in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of
New Zealand of the one part and Messrs. Whitaker and Russell of the City of
Auckland of the other part, Whereby the said Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau and
Enoka agree to sell to the said Messrs. Whitaker and Russell all that piece or
parcel of land situated on the Island of Matakana in the District of Tauranga in
the Province of Auckland in the Colony of Tiraupatiki. [400 acres.] New Zealand and known by the name of Tiraupatiki and containing Four
hundred acres more or less, And the said Messrs. Whitaker and Russell agree to
purchase the said land and to pay to the said Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau and
Enoka at the rate of Four shillings p. acre in the manner following, the sum of
thirty pounds to be paid on signing this agreement and the balance on executing
a conveyance of the said land.
And the said Taraiti Tukunui te Rangihau and Enoka further agree to have the said land surveyed without loss of time at their cost.
