Translation.

1857. 30 July.Mokau District.Know all men by these Presents that on this thirtieth 30 day of July in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fifty seven 1857. We the Aboriginal Native Chiefs and Aboriginal Natives of New Zealand undersigned in consideration of Rauroa. the sum of Four Hundred Pounds £400 to be paid by John Rogan Esquire on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Victoria (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) Do and each of us Doth hereby Sell Release and Convey unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria Her Heirs Successors and Assigns All that Piece or Parcel of Land known by the name of Boundaries. Rauroa (at Mokau). The Boundary of the Land commences at Rauroa thence to Parekohatu at the Herangi Mountains thence inland to the end of the Survey Lines of Mr. Searancke the Surveyor thence along the course of the Awakino till it reaches Te Ti thence to Kiwihua thence on along the said river Awakino and on to Rauroa. There the Boundaries close. And all the Rights and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and all the Right. Title Interest Claim and Demand whatsoever of Us and each of Us therein and thereto to Have and to Hold the said Land and Appurtenances unto Her said Majesty Her Heirs and Assigns absolutely for ever. In witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our Names.
