Translation

Translation.

1854. 5 May.Whaingaroa District.This Deed of sale of land written on this 5th day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty four is a document shewing the true consent of us the chiefs of Ngatimahanga of Waikato to altogether give up a certain portion of our place to Victoria the Queen of England and to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her Tureakina. for ever.
Boundaries. The boundaries of the land commence at Tureakina thence to Puketutu thence to Hotumatapu thence to Mataikapua to the first boundary at Tutaenui thence along the boundary of the land which has been sold to Kaikai thence inland towards Waipa to the house of Huaratahi thence to Te Mania thence to Mangakino thence to Tureakina where the boundaries meet.
Receipt for £100, first instalment. We have received on this 5th day of May 1854 for this place £100 and we now part with this land to the Queen for ever. The balance of the consideration money for that land will be settled when that land is surveyed and inspected by the surveyors. And in token of our consent we have hereunto signed our names and made our marks.
