Translation

Translation.

1853. 18 July.Waikato District.This Deep entered into on the Eighteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty three the consenting of the Chiefs of the Nga Tikarewa Tribe the consenting also of the Queen of England on her part now we the owners of the Land described in this Deed now agree to sell this Land to Queen Victoria for the Ngamokotiti. sum of Two Hundred Pounds now given to us, for this we give and let to Victoria Queen of England and her Heirs for ever this Land and all thereto belonging. The Boundaries are these, being the final purchase Pukekohe, On the West by the Puni Boundaries. on the South by the Waikato River then on to the entrance of the Patuporoporo river in the great swamp turning and on to the Waha-o-te-Ruru and on until it joins the Boundary of Tirikohua. A sketch of this land is on the other side.
