Pukehinau No. 2 Block, Hauraki District.

1873. 31 March.Hauraki District.This Deed made the Thirty first day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy three Between Hone Te Huiraukura and Hohepa Paraone of the District of Hauraki in the Province of Auckland in the Colony of New Zealand Pukehinau No. II. Aboriginal Natives hereinafter termed the said Natives of the one part and Her Majesty Queen Victoria of the other part, Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty Pounds paid by Her said Majesty to the said Natives (the receipt Receipt for £150. whereof is hereby acknowledged) the said Natives do hereby convey and assure release surrender and cede unto Her said Majesty Her heirs and successors All that portion of the Foreshore or parcel of land between high-water mark and low-water mark at Pukehinau No. 1 Boundaries. [50 acres.] in the District of Hauraki in the Province of Auckland aforesaid called or known by the name of Pukehinau No. 2—Part of Opitimoko containing by admeasurement Fifty acres be the same more or less, Bounded by Pukehinau No. 1 along high-water mark to mouth of Pukehinau Creek from thence to a point of junction with Southern boundary of Kauaeranga E 12 B the said parcel of foreshore being part of that known as Opitimoko containing in all Eighty acres as the same is delineated on the plan drawn hereon With all the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging And all other the estate right title interest and demand whatsoever if any of the said Natives in and to the said Foreshore or parcel of land and premises and every part thereof, To have and to hold unto Her said Majesty Her Heirs and successors for ever Provided always that this Deed and nothing herein contained or implied shall be deemed in any way to infringe upon or affect the undoubted prerogatives of Her said Majesty Her heirs and successors as the sole and absolute sovereigns of the whole territory of New Zealand its shores and waters In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto subscribed their names the day and year first hereinbefore written.

[Declaration of Edward Henry Power]

Declaration of Edward Henry Power. I, Edward Henry Power, of The Thames, in the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand, Licensed Native, Interpreter, do most solemnly and sincerely declare as follows, that is to say:—
1. I did faithfully interpret into the Maori language the within Deed to Hone Te Huiraukura and Hohepa Paraone, the parties named therein, immediately before the execution of the said Deed by Hone Te Huiraukura and Hohepa Paraone.page 512
2.My translation of the said Deed was correct, and was understood by the said Hone Te Huiraukura and Hohepa Paraone.
3.The said Deed was executed by the said Hone Te Huiraukura and Hohepa Paraone in the presence of Edward Walter Puckey, of The Thames, in the said Province of Auckland, Native Agent, and me this declarant.
4.The name Edward Henry Power, set and subscribed as that of one of the Witnesses attesting the due execution of the said Deed, is of my proper handwriting, and I hold a Certificate authorizing me to act as an Interpreter under "The Native Lands Act, 1865," and "The Native Lands Act, 1867" which said Certificate is in full force and effect.
5.The name Edward Walter Puckey, set and subscribed as that of one of the Witnesses attesting the due execution of the said Deed, is of the proper handwriting of the said Edward Walter Puckey, and that the said Edward Walter Puckey is a male adult.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of the said several Acts, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand aforesaid intituled "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1866."
