Wherefore ?

Pardon. This strange marriage—thou so exalted, I so humble.

Listen to me, beautiful Maritana, listen.

Mar

You are my lord—I must obey.

Obey ! oh, it is too cold a word. An intruder in the presence of——. Go in, till this be past. I'll follow soon, believe.

Ah me unlucky Maritana.
