The Pamphlet Collection of Sir Robert Stout: Volume 82
Government Offices, Wellington, 20th September, 1883
20th September, 1883.
Sir,—
In compliance with instructions received from you, the pamphlet on "The Manufacture of Cheese, Butter, and Bacon in New Zealand," which is herewith submitted, has been prepared.
This pamphlet embraces results of my own experience in the manufacture of cheese in England and America, as well as information and woodcuts, showing labour-saving appliances, relating to dairy produce, compiled from authentic sources.
The plans for dairy factories for 800, 400, and 200 cows, which arc attached have been carefully prepared by Mr. C. J. Toxward, Architect, of Wellington; and I believe they will be found very useful as a guide to settlers who desire to establish a dairy factory.
I have, &c.,
William Bowron,
Inspector of Dairy Produce Factories. The Hon. F. Whitaker, M.L.C., Premier of New Zealand.
