James Macintosh is a Scotch gentleman, well advanced in years. For a number of years he resided in Victoria, and was at one time a member of the Legislature of that Colony. Arriving in New Zealand he settled in the southern part of the colony and took up land. He was first elected to the House in 1890, when he defeated Dr. Hodgkinson.
