Anas superciliosa, Gmelin. (Grey Duck.)

I have already recorded some remarkable eccentricities in the breeding of the common Grey Duck. I find the following in one of my note-books: At one end of the little island of page 126 Motutaiko, in Taupo Lake, on a pohutukawa tree overhanging the water, and at an elevation of 12ft. from the surface, a pair of these Ducks, for several successive seasons, reformed their rude nest and brought forth their young.
