This company was established in 1883, with a capital of £2,000,000 in £10 shares, £200,000 being paid up, and £78,000 having been paid in dividends. The head office is in London, and the chief local office is in Auckland, with agencies in Blenheim, Christchurch, Invercargill, Napier, Nelson, page 24 New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, and Dunedin. The London Board of Directors are Messrs. H. J. Bristow, W. K. Graham, Falconer Lark worthy, Arthur M. Mitchison, Sir William T. Power, K.C.B., Thomas Russell, C.M.G., Sir Edward W. Stafford, G.C.M.G., Mr. Mitchison being managing director. The New Zealand Board consists of Hon. Sir Frederick Whitaker, K.C.M.G., M.L.C. (chairman), and Messrs. T. Buddie, J. L. Campbell, J. M.
