Next morning we resume our coaching journey northwards, fording the great Inangahua River, which is sometimes attended with danger owing to the sudden swellings caused by the melting snows. About mid-day we rest and dine at the half-way house at the junction of the Inangahua and Buller Rivers. Thence we have most wonderful scenery, as we travel down the banks of the latter river, till the ferry is reached, the coach and horses driving straight on, and being safely conveyed over by the action of the current. Arriving, we refresh ourselves at one of the excellent hotels at
