Maximum Scale of Mercantile Charges Adopted by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce,

August 29th, 1884.

Sales and Purchases.

On Sales of Merchandise	5 P cent.
On Sales of Merchandise	Colonial Produce	2½ cent
On Sale or Purchase of Government Securities	1 cent
On Sale or Purchase Shares in Public Companies, not exceeding or on 1st £500	2½ cent
On Sale or Purchase of Shares in Public Companies, on excess over £500	1¼ cent
On Guaranteeing Sales or Bills by endorsement or otherwise	2½ cent
On Purchase of Merchandise or Colonial Produce—
If in funds	2½ cent
If not in funds	5 cent
When Goods are Sold by Auction, Auctioneer's Commission may be charged in addition to the above.

Shipping Agency.

On procuring Money on Bottomry	5 cent.
On Collecting Freight inwards	2½ cent.
On Procuring Freight or Charter for Vessels	5 cent.
On Collecting Passage-Money payable at Port of Shipment	5 cent.
On Ships' Disbursements and Outfits (including amounts paid to Captains when in port)—If not in funds	5 cent.
On Entering Vessels from England or elsewhere (the Australian Colonies only excepted)	£3 3s.
On Clearing ditto	£3 3s.
On Entering Vessels from the Australian Colonies	£1 1s.
On Clearing ditto	£1 1s.
On Entering or Clearing Coasting Vessels, under 100 tons	10s. 6d.
On Entering or Clearing Coasting Vessels, above 100 tons	£1 1s.
Fee for Survey of Hatches or Stowage (each Survey)	£1 1s.
Fee for Survey of Damaged Goods (each Survey) according to circumstances	£1 1s. to £5 5s.
On Settling Insurance Losses, total or partial, and on Procuring Return of Premium (on amount recovered)	1½ P cent.

Commission And General Agency.

On Management of Estates as Agent, Attorney, Executor, or Administrator (on amounts received or disbursed)	5 P cent.
On Leasing or Letting Land or Houses—Up to Five Years—On One Year's Rent	5 cent
On Leasing or Letting Land or Houses—Over Five Years—On Two Years' Average Rental	5 cent
On Letting Properties on Lease, with Purchasing Clause—On One Year's Rental	5 cent
If for more than Five Years, on Two Years' Rental	5 cent
And 1 P cent, on Purchase-Money.
On Sale of Properties, not exceeding or on 1st £500	5 cent
On Sale of Properties, on excess over £500 and up to £1000	2½ cent
On Sale of Properties, on excess over £1000	1 cent
On Collection and Remitting Rents	5 cent
On Collection and Remitting Interests	5 cent
On Investing Money on Mortgage	1 cent

On Interest on General Disbursements in Account Sales, and Accounts
Current, per annum	1 cent over Bank overdraft rates

Re-Exchange.

Charges.

On Local Bills Renewed	2½ cent.
Receiving General Merchandise and Produce (excepting Wool), per ton	1s.
Delivering ditto	1s.
Receiving, Weighing, Marking, and Delivering Wool, per bale	1s.
Storage on Goods and Liquids, by weight or measurement, per ton per week	1s.
Storage on Wool per week, per bale	4d.
Yard Storage per ton, per week	4d.
