The Cat Let out of the Bag,

Twenty years ago,

While smoking my pipe, the thought occurred to me that I ought to make known, by writing a little book, the discovery that I had just then made.

But, knowing what a dreadful thing it is to fall into the hands of "avenging" Christians, made me somewhat skittish, and I began to calculate the amount of probability that existed for my being roasted alive,

The answer I got

From my twenty years figuring is:—

That no Christians are known to be living at the present day.

But no doubt

Many of the saints

Will arise, as soon as this little book makes its appearance, in order to shower their heavenly blessings upon my earthly head.
