Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria College, Wellington, N.Z. V.U.C. Students' Association Annual Elections, 1951

Tim Beaglehole

Tim Beaglehole

Tim beaglehole, a fresher starting on an arts course, believes that for the executive to be in touch with all students it must consist of representatives of all students. Only then will there be any diminution in the apathy with which many students regard student association affairs.

Tim in on the committees of the Political Science Society and the Swords Club, he runs with the harriers and debates. He believes that with the present scarcity of gym. space the idea of turning the lower gym. into a common common room is quite ridiculous and in of the opinion that the women's common room would make a good common common room. He would like to see an immediate start on the renovations the gym. needs to enable the Physical Welfare Officer to start his programme.

He believes that the Executive should look into the small administrative problems, such as week-old towels in the lavatories, and absence of rubbish boxes in the gym, in which it seems to have no interest.

He has just about sorted out all the initials and gives I.S.S. his full support.

He believes that no conditions whatsoever justify any curtailment of freedom of speech in Victoria College.

Nominator: M. L. McLeod.
