Salient. An Organ of Student Opinion at Victoria College, Wellington, N.Z. V.U.C. Students' Association Annual Elections, 1951

Men's Vice-President

Men's Vice-President

Dougald MacDonald

Donald has been about the place since 1945, and has disported himself in the Med. Intermediate. B.Sc., and B.A. courses. Is in danger of completing B.A. this year. Full time for three years, and successfully struggled through Training College. Has participated in a succession of Extravs., working up from the chorus through visiting diplomats, the Mayor, the Loader of the Opposition, to Sidarella in this year's show. He is frantically interested in practically everything, and anxious to cooperate with everyone, and to be all things to all men.

Nominator: Gerry Barnard.

Maurice O'Brien

Maurice, a fifth year part-time law student, was Vice-President for the past year during which he was N.Z.U.S.A. Corresponding and Resident Executive member. He represented V.U.C. at N.Z.U.S.A.'s August and Easter meetings. For two months, he was Travel Exchange Officer. Chairmanship of the Blues Committee, and the S.C.M.-E.U Executive Committee, membership of the Cafeteria and Constitution Committees were other offices held. Maurice has been Extrav House Manager for two years and Debating Society Treasurer (3 years). He served on Political Science Committee (once as secretary) and on I.S.S. He has debated for V.U.C. three times.

Maurice believes in continuing the sound financial policy which resulted in a financially healthier cafeteria, and a substantial distribution to sports clubs and Salient of the moneys that may become available. In trying to serve the association's best interests, he will oppose attempts to link it with phoney international, semi-political organisations.

Nominator: D. B. Horsley.
