Bill Hume

Bill Hume, now in his sixth year at Victoria College, is a graduate in Law and Arts and is at present taking Honours in Law.

Bill was a resident of Weir House for four years, served on several committees there and last year was Vice-President of Weir. He has been on the Law Faculty Club and this year was on Headquarters Committee organising Easter Tournament. For the past five years he has been an active member of the Football Club and Debating Society. Extrav. people will remember him as Chief Justice in this year's Extrav.

He favours full support for the Building Scheme, a better cafeteria service and more Student Hostels, but under a more efficient management than has produced the present system of bed and breakfast regime at present at Weir.

Finally, Bill firmly believes the policy of the Executive should not be guided by political motives and if elected he would endeavour to ensure that the Executive did not become the background for or instrument of partisan or political groups.

Jim Milburn

Jim Milburn is aged 24, served On the Men's Committee In the last two Executives and was a member of the Finance Committee this year. He also served on the Student Appeal Committee, Licensing Sub-committee and the Committee to examine the position of College Clubs and Fruit Cup Organiser Under Grad's Supper 1949, Fresher 1941. TC 1942 and 1945, Coconut Bomber in Air Force for 3 years. At TC was Secretary of Drama and Debating Clubs. Completed BA 1947, doing Honours in Political Science and is now studying Law.

At VUC has been member of the Debating Club Committee for three years—this year as Secretary; a member of Rugby, Tennis and Indoor Basketball Clubs and was in Extrav. 1947. Won the Plunket Medal in 1947, represented VUC against Aussie debaters this year, and at Joynt Scroll last year. Runner-up for Union Prize 1947-48. Was Headquarters Controller at Easter Tournament this year.

After Executive experience, believes he could undertake the responsibility of Secretary ship with a good background of student affairs. Is interested in the possibility Of improving Stud. Assn. finances by undertaking some commercial venture possibly on a profit-sharing basis utilising student labour in the vacation.
