Cathel MacLeod
Cathel Macleod is a fourth year student completing B.Sc. this year. An old boy of Wellington College he has been a prominent member of several sporting clubs both as an administrator and a player. In the Rugby Football Club he played in the 1st XV in 1945-46 and last year in the 2nd XV and is a member of the committee on which he served for three years. In cricket he is Deputy Club Captain. Captain of the 2nd XI and was also Captain of the VUC XI at Tournament. He has also represented VUC as a boxer at two Tournaments. He would like to see the Executive direct its efforts to raising this College to its proper place in the community by conducting our affairs in a responsible and realistic manner; also to bring the community and the University into closer relationships by earning the respect of the citizens in all activities, in which we as students are engaged.
He intends also to give his fullest support to the sporting clubs and encourage all undergraduates to play for the University clubs. The friendships and them spirit engendered by membership are the greatest factors in welding the students into a compact body and the creation of the community aspect of university ; life, which he hopes this College will attain rather than the existence of a more lecture school.
He also hope to review the position of Salient with a view to creating an Official organ of student opinion.
