The Innocent

Cafe

27.5 line per 10.75 lignes music

With the ability to adopt a number of different styles, The Innocent entertained students last Thursday afternoon in the Cafe. The acoustics were perfect for the 60 minute gig, which showed their flexibility in the selection of music played. Covers of songs by groups like The Angels. Kinks, Cure, Stones and Jam were but a few of the line-up. Playing Tom Petty's American Girl better than Tom Petty, they also rolled out what now seems to have become a standard for many bands, the Only Ones Another Girl, Another Planet. Usual student apathy was broken as feet and hands moved to a really excellent original, Voice in the Street, and they finished the gig with a pepped up oldie, I Fought the Law.

In a Wellington environment that is starving for good venues and a variety of competent bands, The Innocent must stand as one of the capital's most promising groups. The Innocent are; rhythm and lead vocals - Mike Scorey, lead and support vocals - John Callender, drums - Brendan Fitzgerald, and bass - Barry White.
