Warm-up

Warm-up

Many students who participate in activity programmes of their own making ask us how to warm-up. They ask, "is it necessary?" Our answer is "yes!" Warm-up is important for several reasons. Firstly, by warming up you are preparing your body for action. Blood circulation is stimulated to the far comers of the body which are going to need extra oxygen. Use of simple suppling routines in your warm-up will allow your joints, ligaments and tendons to be better prepared for sudden action.

A warm-up is an opportunity to rehearse the skills you intend to use and as such should be done at a pace just below full effort.

If you want details of tried and proven warm ups, ask the Centre Staff.
