SRC elections

Roughly once every fortnight during the year there will be a meeting of the Student Representative Council (SRC). These meetings are all held on a Wednesday between 12 and 2 in the Union Hall (top floor of the Union Building). As well an making the political decisions of the Association, the SRC also controls a complex system of representatives and officers who carry out its policy.

There are seven SRC officers, who are each responsible for working in one major policy area. Brief summaries of what the positions involve are given on these two pages.

There are a vast number of SRC reps who sit on various university committees. The list is:
  • Union Mangement Committee (5 reps at least one being a women).
  • Catering Sub-committee (4 reps)
  • Publications Board (6 reps)
  • Victoria Book Centre Board of Directors (1 rep)
  • Professorial Board (3 reps)
  • Environmental Studies Committee (2 reps)
  • Committee on Exams at Entrance Level (1 rep)
  • Pacific Studies Committee (1 rep)
  • Parking Committee (1 rep)
  • Teaching Aids Committee (1 rep)
  • Teaching and Learning Centre (1 rep)
  • Disciplinary Committee (2 reps)
  • Arts Faculty (4 reps, 2 for 1 year and 2 for 2 years)
  • Language and Literature Faculty (4 reps, 2 for 1 year and 2 for 2 years)
  • Science Faculty (5 reps, 1 being a woman and 1 a graduate)
  • Commerce Faculty (5 reps)
  • Library Committee (2 reps)
  • Timetable Committee (1 rep)
  • Library Usage Committee (7 reps, 1 from each faculty and 1 graduate)

Elections for these committee positions as well as for the seven officers will take place at the second SRC of the year on Wednesday 14 March 12 noon in the Union Hall.
