Clubs on Campus

Clubs on Campus

Over the past couple of years, Victoria University has gained a reputation for a distinct lack of cultural and social activity on and off campus. Increased work-loads in many courses and internal assessment procedures, have severly curtailed the amount of spare time available to the average student.

However if you perused the 1979 Handbook you will have noticed that scattered throughout the university, there are numerous groups of students busying themselves with cultural, political religious and social activities. They could have something for you.

If you feel that none of the existing clubs have anything to offer, why not set up a club yourself? It's one of the easiest things to do. All you need are 20 like-minded souls and three copies of the affiliation form (available from the Students' Association Office).

The Executive must approve your application, but the field is virtually wide open. Once affiliated, you are entitled to apply to the Cultural Affairs Committee for a grant.

I urge you, especially if this your first year, to join a club, its one of the best ways to make new friends and find you way around this place, not to mention the intellectual stimulation.
