Bands — Citizen Band

Bands

Citizen Band

The big name band for orientation '79 Wellingtonians have a rare opportunity to see New Zealand's fastest up and coming rock and roll band since Hello Sailor, so if you want to see wht music is and disco isn't make sure you get to the Only Wellington appearance of Citizen Band. If you haven't seen them live you may have got a taste of what's to come through hearing "Good Morning Citizen" on the radio or actually seeing the and on the telly, alternatively you never have heard the band. But anyway, listen to Radio Active (loud) for a sample and then turn that bloody music down and go and see the bastards.

The members are:—

Geoff Chunn doing guitar, vocals, and writing most of their music. Ex very early Split Enz (for which he was drummer) and a group called After Hours which included Finn. Mike Chunn pumps it out on bass, mike, and stage. He saw his brother playing when he returned from Split Enz's U.S. tour and two weeks after going to Britain Mike left Split Enz to come back and join up with his brother and form Citizen Band.

Greg Clark plays lead guitar (brilliantly) having left Spacewaltz before they went to Australia, taking off briefly with a top twenty band (called Stewart and the Delmonts) before throwing it in and getting into some serious stuff with Citizen Band.

Brent Eccles drums, having previously played with Spacewaltz, Streettalk, and Voxpop. Having had a bit of time to practise he's now doing very well.

The sum result of this is tight, loud, excellent, new wave/rock music that anyone can rage to whether they're into the Brooklyn hustle or pogoing. Considering that its the only chance you'll get to see them for a while you'd really be rather silly to miss them in the Union Hall on Monday 26 Feb from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
