The Nabob of Sob: Johnny Ray

The Nabob of Sob: Johnny Ray

There are many students who listen to and play modern music such as folk, blues, rock etc. So what are they doing? Will they be at the lounge at 7 p.m. on the 4th of April? This time and place sees the inaugural meeting of the new music club, distinct from the music students' Music Society (which is basically a classical music club).

It must firstly be affiliated to VUWSA. This requires the signatures of at least 20 people (future members) and the agreement by them on certain matters concerning the rules of the club will be discussed at this time. Hopefully some people will bring their instruments.

Similar clubs have existed in the past but have died due to: the lack of enthusiasm (and members), too close knit a core, lack of versatility, lack of ambition. We don't want any of these, but we do want anyone interested.

We could have social gatherings where we discuss music and theory, listen to it, and play it. We could organise concerts in the memorial theatre. Overall the club should aim to cater for as many types of interest in music as possible, and not pigeon-hole itself as a Bob Dylan look-alike club (or whatever).

If you are interested but cannot come on the 4th of April, phone Tony on 795-800. We would like to guage the areas and quantity of interest.
