Health Service

Drawing of heads in profile

If you have No problem contacting your Student Health Doctor for emergencies at night or weekends then perhaps you may not need to read on, . . . But ... if you have had frustrating and fruitless attempts to reach one of us the problem is usually that you have not read your "Guide to Student Services 1977" (yellow booklet) accurately. It has all the correct information (which is more than we can say for V.U.W.S.A. Handbook) which lists only the after-hours (5p.m. - 6p.m.) number (721-011.) If you try this one in the middle of the night you will get no reply. If you misdial it you might get one of several similar numbers, for example Physics 721-001, or Law Faculty Staff Room 721-010, and receive some gratuitous or even unprintable advice.

If in doubt phone Wellington Free Ambulance 722-999 who will tell you whom to phone and the number. This will particularly apply during the next few weeks while Dr Bird has no fixed perch owing to repairs to his nest, and during the holidays. Dr Sparrow will be available for emergencies at her usual number 759-886.

Remember: Ring the Free Ambulance if in Doubt.
