This S.R.C. was interesting in that some major political issues had come to a head at a time when Vic. traditionally abandons seriousness and sense. While the meeting involved enthusiastic mass-participation, strict adherance to its own rules of procedure and tons of laughs, it perhaps also revealed the feelings of many students towards the dominant political issues of our time: oh yeah. Give us a chocolate fish, tell us a limmerick and all that nasty, boring, serious stuff might go away.
However, it is unfortunate that mass-exploitation of the earth's resources, widespread political oppression and the expression of unrepresentative views in archaic legislation will not go away like a cold, but need to be fought consistently and by a united opposition if they are to be effectively overcome for the good of us all, now and in the future.
"Sure this S.R.C. was just a [unclear: oncer]. It can't make any difference." But is sets a precedent which could, if not guarded against, have disturbing implications. There will be a day when these issues must be faced and it will no longer be possible to turn our backs.
"Precedent? Implications? Don't give me that crap. Aw-stuff it. Let's have a chocolate fish."
