Health Education Officers
There are vacancies for Health Education Officers male or female, in a full-time course of study commencing mid-January 1977 leading to the Royal Society of Health Diploma in Health Education. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the 18 Health Districts. Full salary is payable during the study year.
The desired educational level is a university degree, preferably in the social sciences or health related science fields. Applicants with tertiary health related non-university or teaching qualifications may also be considered. Minimum age is 21 years, preferred ages between 23 - 35 years.
The duties of a Health Education Officer include planning and co-ordinating health education programmes according to the needs of the Health District; research into and assessing these needs and the evaluation of such programmes; providing health information by the use of various publicity methods and working with people.

Health Inspector Trainees
The Public Health Division has vacancies for Health Inspector Trainees, male and female, in courses of study commencing February 1977 and leading to the Royal Society of Health Diploma for Public Health Inspector (New Zealand).
Qualified Inspectors of Health undertake public health work which is interesting and varied and entails organizing projects, investigations and field work in which the principles of environmental health science are applied.
Trainees should be between 18 and 30 years of age but applications from 17 year olds may be considered. Preference will be given to University graduates in science, or equivalent. Students who are completing studies this year and are interested, should apply in anticipation of their results. The period of training will depend upon educational qualifications and can vary from 18 months to 3 years.
Detailed information on the course of training and subjects to be studied may be obtained from any District Health Office or from Head Office, Department of Health.
The salary payable during training, on qualification and after appointment, can be ascertained from the Staff Clerk.

Administration
Graduates interested in a career in Health Administration may be employed as Assistant Advisory Officers or Assistant Management Services Officers in Head Office, Wellington.
Preference will be given to graduates with a very good background in Economics, Accounting, Maths., Statistics or Science.
This Department is presently developing positions for graduates in its District Health Offices and graduates with a good background in the Social Sciences would be more suited to such positions.
In general the work is investigating, researching and reporting over a wide range of activities.
