Bigots Scare Easy

Bigots Scare Easy

We're a free-thinking university, let's give students an opportunity to hear both sides of the story. Well organise a debate centred around the Tour issue and invite 2 speakers for each side. A great crowd-puller. We've arranged the speakers for the Hart side, now what about the others?

Let's try Sandy King - outspoken pro-South African, pro-tour man best known for his mouth. No - he says he thinks its a dead issue.

The NZRFU - surely they'll defend their position in an open debate? But no-they're scared - "We'll get done," they tremble.

Of course - Ken Comber - the undersecretary for sport and recreation himself - he'll come and defend the Government's position like a good MP. Sounds unconvinced - his secretary says "he told me he won't come near it".

Robert Fenton - Ward itself - but he has disappointed us too.

Well - things are looking bad - lets try someone from the rugby side. Andy Leslie would be a good one - he's outspoken on this issue. Also his mate Bob Scott (the ex All Black). But no - Leslie tells us in no uncertain terms what we can do with our debate.

Well - lets lash out - pay out $50 and fly Col. Elderton up from Christchurch. Col. E - President of the Friends of South Africa and always ready with an opinion on the subject. But would you believe it - he too, is scared that he'll be rubbished.

Well I put it to you - what is wrong with the opposition to this movement that they won't accept this opportunity to freely expound their point of view? An open debate - the fairest possible means to gain support.

Sandy King, Ken Comber, NZRFU boys, Robert Fenton, Andy Leslie, Bob Scott, and Col. Elderton - are you scared???!

Are your arguments really so bad that you can't afford to let people hear them? We think your refusals speak for themselves.
