Capping Raft Race - Results

Those of you who took part in the raft race over capping will no doubt be aware of the various organization difficulties which Mr McAleer experienced. Some entrants did not have there rafts picked up. Some weren't at thome when the truck called.

The main problem was, however, that two races were run. How the first race was started has yet to be established. What is established is that it was not started by any of the official organisers. As a result, the first race was declared defunct by the Raft Committee, the second race being the official one.

The Capping Committee after a lengthy discussion with Mr McAleer has decided on the following allocation of prices.

The winners of the first race will receive five doz beer.

Ian Budge and co. (5 doz)

The second place getters of the first race will receive three doz.

Roger Langbourn and co. (3 doz).

The winners of the second race will receive ten doz.

Geoff Sharp and co. (10 doz).

The second place getters of the second race will receive five doz.

Lester Oakes and co. (5 doz).

The prize for the first woman's team home will receive two doz.

Mary Morrison and co. (2doz).

The entry prize of one doz will be given to each entrant who gave their name to Mr McAleer down on the beach before the official race. These being:-

The capping committee regrets any inconvience caused by either the running of the raft race and the consequent prize allocation. The only alterations to the above list will be if anyone can adequately demonstrate that his or her team took place in either or the races. If such proof is forthcoming one doz will be given. The decision regarding the other prizes is final. All claimants may pick up their beer at the Studass office on production of their library card of any other adequate identification.
