International Catholic Conspiracy Exposed

International Catholic Conspiracy Exposed

Dear Sir,

I wish to reply to the clever misrepresentation used by the anonymous writer 'Mick' whose letter was entitled 'Catholics and Democracy', He hides, or at least does not reveal, the the Students Association Executive is primarily a body chosen to represent people as students whereas the University Catholic

Society (like its Australian counterpart the Newman Society) - bring part of official Catholic Action - represents the interests of people as Catholics as distinct to their identity as university students.

He also does not reveal that University Catholic Action is a transition between the junior Catholic Action organisations such as the Young Christian Students and the senior organisations such as the Legion of Marv, St. Thomas More Guild and the Knights of the Southern Cross.

Likewise, he does not reveal that official Catholic representation on the Students Association Executive is a tactical move whereby Students Association policy and thinking can be moulded to conform with the social doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. The seriousness of the situation can be judged by the fact that in the 'outside world' Catholic Action has very definite policies for foreign affairs, defence, national development, economic policy, social services, immigration, taxation, education, agriculture, labour and industry. There is hardly any field of public policy in which Catholic Action does not have an interest.

In general, Roman Catholic social policy is based on the Roman Catholic 'Corporate State' as described in the Papal Encyclical 'Quadragesimo An no' which deals with reconstructing the 'social order' (Catholic Style), It is not Capitalism, it is not Communism, and it is not Democracy in the sense of allowing freedom of thought.

Since this is probably too 'relevant' to be taught at University, those students who want an introduction to the mysterious underworld of Catholic Action are invited to purchase copies of my booklet "A Look at Catholic Action and the New Zealand Political Scene'. $1.00 per copy from P. O. Box 1479, Wgin. Incidentally I propose to sell copies on the campus in the near future. Donald J. Beswick.
