International Club

International Club

At the first meeting of the International Club, held on the 7th April, the meeting decided that it was dissatisfied with the foreign 'policy' of the fledgling National party cabinet - or in reality, the policy of Robert Muldoon.

That this meeting:

Noting:
(1)The refusal by the NZ Government of visas for a North Korean delegation.
(2)That this refusal has come at a time prior to a visit to South Korea by the NZ Prime Minister.
Believes:
1)That this refusal was partially due to the delegation's coming from a country whose socio-political system does not conform to the conception of democracy held by the NZ Government and its ally the US whose support of the South Korean regime is well known.
2)That this refusal is symptomatic of the policital menopause of the NZ Government and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
Therefore:
  • Urges the NZ Government to recind its decision.
Further:
  • That the contents of this resolution be conveyed to the Prime Minister.

V.U.W.S.A. Publications Board

The Publications Board desperately needs a new treasurer to replace Warwyck Dewe who resigned from the position a long time ago in order to become Salient advertising manager. He/she should have an interest in student publications and a reasonable degree of accountancy experience, pref ACCY 2 or equivalent experience. All enqiries to John Ryall in the Salient Office or Gyles Beckford in the Studass Office This position carries a honorarium of $125 a year, and involves the payment and collection of accounts and the preparation of the occasional financial statement. I am sure Warwyck can explain it better than I can and I am equally sure that John and Gyles will refer you to him when you go and see them.
