This student, who is studying third year arts, was hit by the lack of jobs over the summer holidays. She netted only $422.44, because she found a job only on 10 December. At the beginning of term she had $153.09 in the bank. Over the next four weeks that went quickly:
Rent $58.50
Food $24.20
Bills $4.60
Flat Payments $87.30
Books (with $44.15 still owing) $52.50
Studass fee $30.50
Sundry payments $44.90

(this includes such things as entertainment, lunches, clothing, stationery).

Other Payments $127.90
Total Expenditure $214.20

So, this student now owes $62.10, as well as a book bill for $44.14, When (?) the bursary comes out at the end of this month, even by cutting down, all expenditure as much as possible, she will owe a further $150 as a minimum. That makes a total of $256plus.
