SALIENT NOTES

Where else but Salient do people run about at the early hour of 11.30am as if the world was going to end in only six hours time.

'Slack' Mac of 'I the undersigned wish the Rangatira service from Lyttleton to be retained as a public necessity for the South Island' fame, could only deduce that this was a student's normal state. Failing to adequately converse with John Ryall, who occasionally acts as the editor. Mac deliberated upon the woes of mankind's future and left the office.

He was immediately followed by the technical non-editor person of Mike Stephens pursuing a Victorian box. David Murray who takes great delight in the position of reviews editor suddenly (after twenty minutes) asked Where's Mac?'. Rachel Scott said Who's Mac?' A brief scuffle ensued with Rose Desmond. Susan Arndt, Chris Wilson. Leigh Thompson, Gary (the much maligned) Henderson, John (the more maligned) Henderson and Mike Freman and Barbara McElwee was seen riding away from the melee on a big black dog.

Derek Fikkers and Anne Elborn, meanwhile had their own little scrap with the former coming out on top. Robert Lithgow, Les Gandar, Mao, Patrick Mulrennan, and Big Lenny can be seen hanging on the wall disguised as a Fat Furry Freak Brothers cartoon. Warwyck Dewe, David Tripe and John Blincoe are all names that people like to drop sometimes, but Gerard Van Bohemen prefers distribution.

Lindy Cassidy and Leonie Morris (the two elles) think that Gandar is a type of goose. There is absolutely no truth in rumour Anthony Ward. The real truth is in fact James Robb. Judity Ting, Bernard Randall. Helen Croft, Lionel Klee (who took many of the photos). Lynn Peck, Philip Tree, the Queen Mother, (but not necessarily in that order).

Alison Bartlett (representative of the working classes) suddenly appeard and whoed how it is done, much to the surprise of Pat Bartle, who immediately typeset Men do not hate women' (but seems to remain unconvinced), and Patsy Phelps, (got her name in at last).

Salient apologises for Gyles Beckford's name not appearing in these notes, but it should teach him for once and all that if he comes into this office he must do some work and not march around making parrot noise and pretending he is writing his president's column when in fact all he is doing is wasting the bleeding workers' time. This does not mean that we don't like that snivelling greaser Beckford, it's just that were sich of hiw low-down, dirty, canniving, two-timing, cretinous manner. So there!
