Victory for Cambodians
Victory for Cambodians
Before this week is out all Cambodia will be under the leadership of the Royal Government of National Union headed by Norodom Sihanouk. The remarkable success of the Cambodian people's war higlights the changing situation in Indochina.
When the US troops left and US aid began to dwindle as the result of victories such as the Paris Peace Agreements it was only a matter of time before the puppet regimes it had succoured so well began to topple. The people of Indochina are at last achieving their independence — their desire to govern themselves, to have basic democratic rights, and to have peace. Thieu and Lon Nol are being swept aside by this current.
Salient publishes a supplement on the current situation and its background in this issue. To commemorate the visit to New Zealand of a delegation from the DRV and PRG we also include an article on Women in Vietnam. In addition there is information on the aid and orphans issues. Next week we will feature interviews with the women's delegation.
NZUSA (P.O.Box 6368 Te Aro) can supply extra copies of this supplement.
