No Joint Trial of 1106 Students:

The Sessions Court President, Abdual Rashid Bin Abdul Manaf, dismissed today an application, by defence counsel, Wong Weng Kwai, for the trial of 1106 students to be heard jointly. They are charged with unlawful assembly on Dec. 3 last year. The President wants to 'leave things as they are and not complicate matters'. The 19 hearings take up a total of 30 days, would involve 19 presidents and magistrates sitting on 19 separate occasions.
