Salaries

On admission to a teachers' college, you receive for the first two years $1,759 and $2,388 in your third year. A boarding allowance of $139 may be payable if you must [unclear: live] away from home. If you are over 20 you will receive $2,936 in your first two years and $3,092 in your third year but no boarding allowance. The table shown below gives the basic salary paid during the first eight years of teaching.

As you study this basic scale, keep the following in mind:
  • To these figures would be added $140 married allowance, where applicable.
  • Many thousands of positions of responsibility are on higher salaries.
  • Promotion prospects at an early age have been greatly improved.
