NZUSA President Peter Rosier has been appointed Associate to the Chief Justice of Australia, Sir Garfield Barwick.

The position is that of a legal/personal secretary who has many and varied responsibilities.

"It is a general advisory research position", said Peter.

He said he was responsible for such diverse things as travel and assisting in the preparation of legal judgments.

The appointment which is made annually is usually made to an Australian but this year Sir Garfield selected a New Zealandcr.

Peter said the appointment woul in future probably go to persons from other Commonwealth countries.
