Wine Society Formed

A wine society, similar to the highly successful one in Auckland is being formed here.

A club spokesman said 35 students attended an invitation meeting recently to discuss home wine-making and intentions of the society.

The aims and objectives are to foster an interest in home wine-making and brewing, and in the industry in general.

Greg Thomas was elected president and Alan Trotter secretary. Dr Taylor, the Vice Chancellor has consentted to become Patron.

The society is holding its first meeting on Tuesday, 6 August.

The topic for the evening will be comparisons of homemade and commercial wines.

With subscriptions of 50c for student members and $1 tor non-students, the society hopes to hire out equipment for members' use and buy supplies as reduced rates.
