A tale related by Hugh Rennie during the National-Labour Clubs debate concerned a midnight swim in Oriental Bay involving the Prime Minister and three Labour M.P.s.
Emerging naked from the water, they were embarrassed to find themselves in full view of a busload of sightseers.
The M.P.s quickly wrapped towels round their waists but were astonished to see the P.M. cover only his head.
"Well", explained Keith. "I'm best known around Wellington by my face".
